Self-regulation thru private speech

Regulation and Private Speech for Self

Today as a child starts to develop skills, often the first one to interact with the child seems to be the mother. It has always been proven that a mother’s love in early in child’s life will help in guiding them down the right path in life. Is this the way you feel toward the development of your child or children? Do you want them to be able to carry on conversations with others in a proper manner without any outburst of frustration? As parents, you know how embarrassing it can be when your child can’t communicate with others. Do you recall how your child first vocalized he/she wanted a bottle or a cookie? It may not have been very plain, but they vocalized their action and got the response they needed from you. There have been many studies performed involving mother- child interaction. The results were astonishing.
The children were able to collaborate with their mother during many procedures. The response was that group differences often prevailed when it came to the relation of the maternal behavior. The children achieved further as a group than with their mother alone. When private speech and behavior regulation was involved the children seemed to be able to handle the situation much better. They were able to receive greater control; praise; and failed to withdraw to oneself. Often in young children, one may notice that children tend to chatter. Some adults have misinterpreted this as the child being disobedient or mentally instable. Private speech is very promising in the development of one’s child. Private speech has been known to help not only normal children but children that tend to have a learning disorder. This skill has been around for many years helping children to better cope with in their development of learning.

Yong children often interact with egocentric speech, which is very limited or confined to one self. You will find little communication among these children. Instead you may find that a child will verbalize and stimulate speech from another. Private speech has been suspected of disappearing to one, once they become an adult.

When a child is given a mentor, that individual has the duty of giving spoken direction and knowledge on how one should face certain situations. Once a child has accomplished his/her necessary knowledge over one’s behavior, private speech can be limited. Humans should realize that self has always been considered a great listener. Children tend to voice only when they face a puzzling situation that they don’t know how to handle. If the child is aware of the situation, one may notice the child omitting phrases and words. It is best to introduce private speech and self-regulation in early childhood.
